Understanding the Different Kinds of Wooden Outdoor Furniture

Outdoor furniture is a classy thing, and homes grow in elegance and style provided their owners pick the right kind of wooden furniture for their outdoors. With so many kinds of wooden furniture available in the market, choosing the right kind can be confusing and tedious. The key to solving this issue is to understand the different kinds of wood that go into the making of these outdoor wooden furniture pieces.

• Pine wood -

The Pros: It is affordable, and lightweight. This makes the furniture pieces made of pine easy to move around. Also, it is easy to paint on. This is a bonus if you wish to add some personalized markings to your furnishings.

The Cons: It is easily affected by rough treatment, making it suffer from scratches and dents.

• Cherry wood -
The Pros: Since it is finely grained in most cases, cherry wood is easy to polish and fashion into delicate shapes. This means that you can create some of the most intricate designs using cherry wood. It also has a regal, rich color that is a wonderful mix of red and brown.

The Cons: Something this good comes at pretty high prices, which is quite understandable.

• Maple wood -

The Pros: Maple wood is mostly creamy in color, and it is durable and well known for its strength. Furniture made out of maple wood can weather nearly any kind of harsh treatment, and stand the test of time.

The Cons: Maple wood reacts well to dark stains and coloring. Many furniture makers take advantage of this fact to make it resemble its pricier counterparts like cherry wood and mahogany. However, if the maple is not properly stained, it can appear botchy and unsightly.

• Oak wood -

The Pros: This is also a very durable material, and if it is fashioned in a way that is flattering to its grainy nature, it can end up with a visually distinctive appearance that is uniquely appealing. Oak wood is also resistant to warping.

The Cons: Improper staining can ruin the finish and the appearance of the wood.

• Walnut wood -

The Pros: This is a rare make, and it has a beautiful color. Furniture made out of walnut wood is strong, and can be intricately carved and embellished.

The Cons: Walnut wood is a costlier option. It also has incredible color variations that go from light to dark in an instant. Some people may prefer a more even tone instead.
