Outdoor furniture is a classy thing, and homes grow in elegance and style provided their owners pick the right kind of wooden furniture for their outdoors. With so many kinds of wooden furniture available in the market, choosing the right kind can be confusing and tedious. The key to solving this issue is to understand the different kinds of wood that go into the making of these outdoor wooden furniture pieces.
• Pine wood -
The Pros: It is affordable, and lightweight. This makes the furniture pieces made of pine easy to move around. Also, it is easy to paint on. This is a bonus if you wish to add some personalized markings to your furnishings.
The Cons: It is easily affected by rough treatment, making it suffer from scratches and dents.
• Cherry wood -
The Pros: Since it is finely grained in most cases, cherry wood is easy to polish and fashion into delicate shapes. This means that you can create some of the most intricate designs using cherry wood. It also has a regal, rich color that is a wonderful mix of red and brown.
The Cons: Something this good comes at pretty high prices, which is quite understandable.
• Maple wood -
The Pros: Maple wood is mostly creamy in color, and it is durable and well known for its strength. Furniture made out of maple wood can weather nearly any kind of harsh treatment, and stand the test of time.
The Cons: Maple wood reacts well to dark stains and coloring. Many furniture makers take advantage of this fact to make it resemble its pricier counterparts like cherry wood and mahogany. However, if the maple is not properly stained, it can appear botchy and unsightly.
• Oak wood -
The Pros: This is also a very durable material, and if it is fashioned in a way that is flattering to its grainy nature, it can end up with a visually distinctive appearance that is uniquely appealing. Oak wood is also resistant to warping.
The Cons: Improper staining can ruin the finish and the appearance of the wood.
• Walnut wood -
The Pros: This is a rare make, and it has a beautiful color. Furniture made out of walnut wood is strong, and can be intricately carved and embellished.
The Cons: Walnut wood is a costlier option. It also has incredible color variations that go from light to dark in an instant. Some people may prefer a more even tone instead.

3 Factors To Consider When Buying Designer Sunglasses For Women
Sunglasses have been around for centuries and it seems that they will continue being around for a little bit longer. Although, the primary function of glasses is to provide protection against harmful sunlight, women have over the years used them as a fashion statement.
Due to the increased use of the eyewear for fashion and style, many manufacturers have come up with different designs meant to fit the tastes of different people. If you are a woman and you are interested in buying the eyewear, you need to take a number of factors into consideration. Some of the factors that you need to consider include:
Sunlight protection
The most important thing that you should consider is the ability of the glasses to protect you from the harmful ultraviolet rays (UVA). You should note that the level of protection depends on the type of glasses that you have.
To be on the safe side you should always go for sunglasses that have the ability of blocking 70% of UVA and 60% of UVB. If you visit a store that has glasses that can block up to 100% of the harmful rays, you should buy those glasses.
You should also go for sunglasses that are polarized. This is because polarized glasses easily diffuse intense light.
If you are comfortable wearing them, you should buy oversized sunglasses. This is because oversized glasses tend to protect the delicate skin surrounding the eyes thus giving your skin a long life.
Impact protection
Although, women are said to be delicate, you should not buy delicate and fragile pieces of eyewear. The eyewear should be strong enough to protect you against flying debris such as fine dust particles and stone particles.
If you are living in America, you should always go for glasses that have the American National standard institute (ANSI) mark of quality.
Lens colour
Sunglasses come in different colors with grey being the most common. The main reason why grey lenses are popular is because they easily reduce brightness without distorting the color of objects that you are looking at.
Brown and amber lenses also reduce brightness but they greatly distort the colour of objects.
Green lenses on the other hand reduce glare and at the same time filter the harmful blue light. The lenses also provide excellent color contrast between objects.

Getting Your Wedding Dress Altered for the Perfect Fit
When you have chosen or designed your perfect dream wedding gown, there are still some very important details that need to be taken care of in the run up to the big day. One of these is getting the bridal dress alterations done, and done right.
This doesn't mean making huge changes to the style (although, granted, you can, but that is more custom work than the work of smaller bridal dress alterations) - it's all about making the gown fit you absolutely perfectly. When it comes to fittings, there are a few issues you should keep in mind - this include, but are not limited to, the length of the dress, the fit around the shoulders and fit of the midsection.
The Length
Wedding gowns come in a variety of lengths to complement the style and the wearer, but no matter which you choose, you should keep in mind the fact that some bridal dress alterations to the length may still need to be done. When you are getting a floor length gown, for example, you will often find it way too long when you first try it on. Obviously, whether you purchase off the rack or bespoke, the potential bride will vary in height depending on her statue and what heels she chooses for the day. Towards the end of your fittings you will hopefully have your shoes finalised, so you can then get the dress tailored to the perfect length. Remember, it is much easier to cut a dress shorter than it is to add on a bit along the bottom!
But it isn't just floor length dresses that may need to be adjusted; if you are on the shorter end of the spectrum and you want to wear a tea length dress, but find that they are all just that bit too long and fall in the strange space between ankle and calf, you can fix this by simply having the dress altered to exactly the right length.
Fit Around the Upper Half
While the length of the dress is an important consideration for the practicalities of standing around and walking down the aisle, the overall look of the dress is really governed by its general fit. This doesn't mean it has to be skin tight, but getting bridal dress alterations to ensure the gown is snug around the bust, midsection and hips is a wise move. Your designer or dressmaker will use their skill to enhance or disguise certain aspects should you wish at this stage. You should also pay particular attention to the way the shoulders fit, even if you have chosen a halter-top or strapless design, it is especially important to ensure that the gown does not bunch or sag around this area.

White Table Lamps And Other Types of Small Lighting Solutions
Proper lighting is very important when people are carrying out a wide range of tasks, so it is important that everyone has access to the appropriate lighting. Desk lamps and table lamps can be used to provide fantastic small scale lighting solutions for home owners. However, if you are searching for a lighting solution, you may be confused by the large array of desk lamps and table lamps which are on offer. As a lighting expert, I will attempt to guide you through the pros and cons of some of the different styles of lamps which are on offer.
Simple White Table Lamps
White table lamps are a simple yet effective lighting solution. They are great because they can be used in almost any context. Because of their neutral colour, they will fit into a room with almost any decorated theme. They are especially good if you are aiming to create a minimalist look in a room. These lights can be used on their own or in a set to provide mood lighting in a room.
Natural Wood Table Lamps
Wood table lamps are a great alternative to plastic or metallic lamps. They are good for rooms which have very natural decor. The wood used in these lamps may be available in many different states: varnished, unvarnished or painted in a whole range of different colours.
Reading Lamps
Reading lamps are designed to offer extra light to people in a room who are trying to read or who are doing a project which requires higher visibility, such as needle work or work with very small objects. They come in a variety of different styles, but they always offer the best light for the purpose. Reading lamp bulbs can be halogen (which are brighter, but also hotter), fluorescent (which are bright, but some people find the light to be too "cold"), or LED's (which are environmentally friendly, cooler and more economical, but not as bright as some other types of light). Different styles of reading lamp are preferred by different people, so if you do a lot of reading, you may like to try out a few different styles of reading lamp, to see which one you prefer.
Desk Lamps
Desk lamps are like reading lamps, but they are designed for use by people who must spend all day working at a desk and need extra illumination. One of the most common features of desk lamps is that they are hinged a few times, so that the user can adjust the piece to shed its light in the most appropriate places.
Bedside Table Lamps
Bedside table lamps are very useful for providing people with a small scale lighting solution for next to their beds. These lamps are usually designed to offer softer, relaxing light, so that people can use them whilst they are relaxing in bed. It is important that they are easy to switch on and off, because people may need to use them in the dark.

Ever Wondered Why Designer Handbags Are So Expensive?
I never really thought about designer handbags or how much they cost because I spent the last 30 years in the Navy. For most of my career, I had to buy a black leather handbag with a gold clasp that I bought in the uniform shop. But I recently retired and I am now working in the civilian sector.
I found that I couldn't just have one black handbag. I had to get different colors and styles of handbags that would go with different colors and types of suits. And you just can't buy a discount store handbag. If you are going to buy an expensive suit, you really should go with a designer handbag. So, I looked online and in department stores and was just astonished at the numerous designers, styles of handbags and the wide price range. Coach, Gucci, Burberry, Christian Dior and Prada are to name but a few. Wow! I saw bags that cost $2000 and apparently that is not all that expensive.
I quickly realized that these handbags were way out of my league and reluctantly bought my handbags at discount stores. But my curiosity got the best of me and I started searching the internet to find out exactly why designer handbags were so expensive. What made these bags that cost anywhere from $200.00 to $2,000 better than the discount handbags I bought for $18.00. After looking at numerous websites, I found that all the articles had about the same information.
Designer handbags deliver what they promise - they are made to last. They are made with the highest quality materials whether those materials are leather or a rare fabric. There is a lot of hard work involved in the making of a designer handbag. From the initial design, to the material that fits that design, to the actual construction. Whether it is a leather handbag or a unique or rare fabric, a lot of attention is paid to each step in the process. These handbags are hand crafted by individuals who have been extensively trained and the finished product is quality tested. These are not cheap synthetic materials run through an assembly line. There won't be any inconsistencies or imperfections.
The hardware that goes into these bags is genuine, from buckles to strap rings, to the chains. The zippers of designer handbags are smooth, can be easily opened and last longer than any of the common bags. I actually went to Dillard's and opened and closed a Coach bag and then compared it to my discount bag and found that the zipper was cleaner and smoother. The stitching is consistent throughout the handbag and the thread used matches the color of the handbag. Designers do not compromise on the materials used in their handbags or the process used in the construction. The handbags are a reflection of their names and reputations.
A great deal of attention is also focused on the interior of the handbag. What are women most likely to carry in their handbags? Designers have done the research. Designer handbags take into account the occasion and what women might need to carry on those occasions. I looked in my handbag and there were very few pockets if any for easy retrieval of my keys, phone, sunglasses, lipsticks and more. I have to dig everything out to find one item. Very annoying.
